A Few Visitors

There are 2 beautiful caterpillars in my garden. There used to be more but they disappeared before they got to be this big and gorgeous. The remaining 2 have turned themselves into a neon sign for predators making their survival up to now that much more amazing. One very fat one is living on my rue herb plants. He doesn't appear to have eaten much of it. He has BRIGHT yellow and black stripes with yellow dots and it looks as though he is made of velvet. The other one is living on one of my carrot plants. He is eating it all to hell. Only 4 carrots survived to begin with so this is an act of sacrifice letting him live there gorging himself like that. But they are truly beautiful and even my daughters thought so. If these 2 guys survive they will become Black Swallowtail Butterflies. Only 10% of these caterpillars survive .
