Last evening the malathion fogging truck passed through our neighbourhood for the second time in a couple of weeks. Today the yard is completely still, except for one wasp that was spotted in the Joe Pie Weed at mid afternoon. No mosquitos, butterflies, dragonflies, or bees to be seen in the yard today. It is the lack of bees that stands out the most because there have been 5-10 of them in the Joe Pie Weed for the last couple of weeks. One type was a smaller variety I hadn't seen in that plant before. I hope it is just a coincidence and that they will be back soon.

The night before last a deer found its way to the apple tree in the front yard and nibbled off the rest from the lower branches. Daughter Younger discovered its prints in the wet grass in the morning. At least it saved us the apples at the top of the tree!
