The B man wasn't sure how I'd react to him bringing home 40 Lbs of ground beef, so he kept it in the trunk all day and unleashed the news gently in the evening.
He was at work when an announcement came on the radio about a farmer handing out hundreds of pounds of beef outside the legislative building. His objective was to draw attention to the poor shape the Manitoba cattle producers are in. This farmer was going out of business and was accepting donations for his beef which he would pass over to the Manitoba farm and Rural Stress Line. He is just one of many family run farms that are going out of business with not many people noticing or caring.
While it may be true that the majority of people only care about buying cheap food regardless of quality, there is a steady increase in people who demand a better quality of food for themselves and their families, whether it be by growing their own, buying organic or local, and going to farmer's markets. We are not the people on the fringes of society. We are regular people with regular lives, and when more of us demand quality local food then a change can happen.
The B man shouldn't have worried about my reaction to him bringing home beef that roamed free and was grass fed. I would pick this over the mystery beef in the supermarket any day.

Grass fed is the way to go and non cancer causing according to our anti cancer book guy. It has the right balance of Omegas, and what a great thing for B to do. Yay!
